Mental Health First Aid Courses

“For every £1 spent by employers on supporting employees’ mental health, employers will receive £5 back in reduced absenteeism and staff turnover” Deloitte & Employers, January 2020.

Pre COVID, 1 in 4 adults experienced a mental health issue in any given year, research shows that since the pandemic that number as increased. Understanding how to manage mental health at work and normalise conversations around it in the workplace ensures successful and supportive environments where people can continue to thrive and be productive.

These MHFA England approved courses are evidence based, developed by clinical experts and those with lived experience and accredited by Royal Society of Public Health. They meet recommended core standards for a healthy workplace in line with the Government’s “Thriving at Work” Report. Achievement is through attendance and engagement. There is no formal assessment.

These courses are designed to complement and enhance your business’ workplace wellbeing strategy.  If your company doesn’t have one, we can help to build one and provide the necessary training to support your teams.

TESTIMONIALS

"Jo is a fantastic and professional trainer. I don't think I have ever been more engaged in an 8-hour training session! I was very impressed with her knowledge of the course, and walked away feeling confident in my ability to support others during a mental health crisis (or to know where to go to access the information I needed). I would highly recommend Ocean Aspire's MHFA courses."

- Ashley, The Lancet

“Jo is an excellent instructor and very knowledgeable about the subject. The pace of the course was very good and I didn't feel rushed or that there was just too much information in the allotted time. The subject of the course was challenging but the course was delivered in a thoughtful and sensitive manner which was especially evident as the group felt they were able to share very intimate experiences with Jo and others. Despite the subject matter, the course was very enjoyable and I would definitely recommend anyone complete this course whether it is for a personal or work reason.”

— Kari, Skillwise

“I thought the course was excellent and I felt I really got a lot out of it.  It has greatly improved my understanding of mental health issues and given me confidence in my ability to help others if required.  I am keen to continue to develop my understanding by doing further research/reading/education etc and would be interested in doing the 2 day course in maybe a years time.  Thank you!”

- Neil, Global Knowledge

I found the course extremely useful. I thought that Jo was a very good instructor. She made an effort to build relationships with the participants and she fostered an atmosphere where people felt confident and able to contribute. She was engaging and understanding. I like the mixture of activities to keep things interesting (videos, group tasks, writing on the whiteboard). I have learnt so much and it's made me want to learn more. A fantastic instructor and a fantastic course. Thank you!
